Park Rules

This lovely park is now open to all for reflection and enjoyment.

All visitors are welcome during our opening hours, and are asked to abide by the few regulations, laid down in order to protect its natural beauty and in respect for those who will be laid to rest here.

Keep to the paths and do not stray or walk over marked burial sites.

Do not pick the wildflowers.

Keep children supervised at all times.

No skateboards, roller blades, bicycles or any motorised vehicle to enter the woodland, except for gaining access to the car park.

Please take your litter home with you. We request that any flowers brought for placing on graves are removed from their wrapping, enabling us to maintain the natural woodland.

Please keep dogs on short leads and clear up any mess they may make.

No plants to be planted, or structures placed on or around the graves without permission.

No smoking in the park. Smoking is only permitted in the car parking area.

No picnics or barbeques.

Cars parked at owners' risk. The management is unable to take responsibility for cars and their contents.

Cut Flowers Policy

Cut flowers may be left lying on the grave without any wrappings or ribbons. Where possible we ask that families consider bringing small bunches/posies of subtle colours.

No containers are to be used ie. vases, jam jars, plastic bottles etc. These present a potential health and safety hazard in the woodland and compromise the overall look of the woodland.

Chiltern Woodland Burial Park staff will take away flowers as they deteriorate either through weather conditions or grazing by wildlife eg. rabbits, slugs and snails.

Funeral tributes are always accepted and left on the grave until they deteriorate for the same reasons as above.

You are welcome to bring Christmas Wreaths made of natural products eg. holly and ivy. These will be left on the grave until the twelfth night and then removed by Chiltern Woodland Burial Park staff.

Planting Policy

The woodland at Chiltern Woodland Burial Park has been under the care of the Forestry Commission for some years, and while we are still working to improve the existing trees and ground flora we will not be encouraging planting of any kind, including on or around burial plots.

We expect the native flower seedlings that are dormant in the forest floor to quickly take advantage of the improved light reaching the ground as a result of our specialist woodland management, and therefore it is likely that over the next few years there will be a rapid spread of bluebells, foxgloves and other existing plants to other part of the Park.

In the future we hope to introduce planting schemes, using native plants and seedlings from our own trees, which will aid the natural regeneration of this ancient woodland. Until this time, we would be grateful if visitors could refrain from planting in the woodland.
